Way too easy.

I obviously know that there is no single program that can truely make one fluent in any given langueage...but this comes pretty close. I picked up this program simply because I thought this would truley be an interesting language to learn. And so it was. In a given two hours this program takes you through the simplest words to memorize such as various simple food items such as bread, egg, apple, milk, ect. THen after it helps associate various colors with those objects. It's truley hard to imagine that doing any kind of language would be this easy. Even as i type this review i am having thoughts on what i learned, and it really works. I not only see the sky as being called sky but as himlen. This is what makes this program truley beneficial. It ingrains the image with the word so quickly into your brain that you begin to see not only, for me, in english but in swedish as well. Each unit can take between 4-6 hours depending on you own personal speed.
Of course in order to truley become fluent in any language, you must immerce yourself in the culture, as well as the language. BUt aside from living in the country of the language you insist on learning, rosetta stone is the closet thing you can get. This is realy worth every penny spent on it.

So Motivating and Fun

I have only once in my life been this motivated for learning, and it was not a language. The instant gratification of success or failure tempered with the possibility for nearly endless self-improvement through acquiring language skills makes this an opportunity not to be missed. A great teacher to compliment any learner, and I would recommend it to anyone I know.

Language Product I've Been Waiting For

Years ago I purchased another Swedish course for over $200. It had a course book and 10-12 cassette tapes. I don't think I was able to get through more than two cassettes before I gave up. I was not able to learn by rote every possible sentence I needed speak. If the sentence I wanted to say was not in the lesson, I couldn't say it or I spent a painful amount of time reseaching it in attempts to "figure it out." I knew I didn't learn that way. I went so far as to scan the pages from the lesson book and create hyperlinks with sound bytes attached. Still there was something missing. Rosetta Stone did the hard work for me. They created an amazing language learning tool designed around the way I learn. Not only do the pictures and spoken examples given create a base upon which to build, they allow me to create my own sentences and have the conversation I want to have. No longer am I tied to pre-created dialogue! Rosetta Stone is a great product for those who truly want to learn a language instead of "play around" with a few phrases. I would highly recommend it to anyone!

Speaking with my grand daughter

I love Rosetta Stone even though I wish they had more language lessons in Swedish. I got Rosetta Stone because my daughter moved to Sweden and had a child there who was learning to speak Swedish and I did not want my grand daughter to be unable to speak to her grandmother so I decided to learn Swedish. Although I had taken an intense course on one of my visits there, I still could not speak the language. The simplicity of Rosetta Stone's lessons was perfect for me and my reason for wanting to learn the language. I practiced about an hour a day, created a little vocabulary book for myself to carry around and enjoyed the fact that I was learning about day to day life. Last time I visited Sweden everyone noticed how my vocabulary had grown and I am now able to converse with my grand daughter who is 3 years old. I hope Rosetta Stone increases it's Swedish lesson learning so I can continue to learn more this way.

Impressive product!

I purchased Rosetta Stone with high hopes of learning Swedish over 4 months, in order to be able to communicate with my Swedish boyfriend's family upon our first visit from California to Northern Sweden. I did not feel strongly that I would be able to pick up the language in time, but have been pleasantly surprised by the amount of Swedish that I can now understand, and of the numerous expressions that I can now relate. I'm almost halfway through the second level, with still the third level to go. I work with the computer program a little bit every day, which is fun and comfortable to do at my own pace. Also, it gives plenty of review so that I don't forget what I have already learned. While driving, I like to listen to the audio companion to reenforce what I've learned, and to give a mental picture of both the meanings and spellings of the phrases from the CD. I feel confidently that I will be able to stand my own at the dinner table in Sweden, and will have hopefully successfully impressed my future parents-in-law by being an American who took the time and effort to learn Swedish. Thanks!

Rosetta Stone Is the Best

I was going to Sweden on business. I have no knack at all for languages, but had heard Rosetta Stone could help the inept. I loved it. It was the easiest way to learn a new language. I could understand and read the language within 2 months. This was a big help when I arrived in Sweden and developed a blood clot. The Drs in the hospital were used to Swedish speaking patients and their English wasn't as good as those people in the tourist industry. Rosetta Stone gave me the ability I needed to communicate with the Drs and understand what is going on. I am recommending Rosetta Stone to anyone who wants to learn a language. I think my next language will be Spanish.

I bought this to learn swedish and love how it completely engrosses you into the language making it super easy to understand. i'm still learning a lot, and it's easier and cheaper than a college course. the translation comes natural, and i find myself thinking in swedish! i feel comfortable enough to hold a small conversation already! i will definitely use this product again!

Rosetta Stone is a very fast,easy, and fun way to learn a foreign language. You immediately begin to learn as soon as you get the disks installed on your computer.
Rosetta Stone takes you away from your culture where you can put away all former languages and start learning a new one. It's almost like Rosetta takes you on a trip to the native speakers of the language, just to learn it. You don't have to worry about translating the words into your native language and then memorizing it, you just learn.
Not only are you learning a language but your also REMEMBERING a language. I can tell you many other methods where I tried to learn a language and soon forgetting what Ive learned after a few months, but with Rosetta you retain what you've learned.
Another great thing about Rosetta is that you can learn at your own pace. Weither it be a few lessons a day or week you'll enjoy learning on your own free time. It even has a built in feature to help you remember what you've already learned if you were to busy to partake in the lessons for some time. Which means you don't have to worry about making time for it, just do it when you can and you WILL learn.
The only better way to learn a language, I would think, is to actually live in the heart of where the language is spoken. Sometimes that's not the best option for some people, epically if your learning the language on interest and wont be visiting the area for sometime. With Rosetta you can learn the language just about anywhere weither it be for keeping in touch with foreign friends, family, or just pure interest of the language, and even if your planning on living where the language is spoken its always good to have a good background in the language that will make mastering the language all the easier.
The price may be a bit steep but i STRONGLY recommend this if you are serious about learning a new language, I guarantee that you will not be disappointed; until next time, Hej då!
